For 40 years, VERBA from Nijnsel and Ekon from Born have been working closely together to improve the environment. The LDPE sheet materials from EKON that VERBA uses to manufacture feed troughs for the pig farming sector are made entirely from recycled PE. This recycled PE consists, amongst other things, of old soft drink bottle caps, agricultural plastic and industrial PE material. Together, VERBA and Ekon have already processed tens of thousands of tonnes of plastic waste into PE sheets for VERBA’s pig feed troughs. This ties in very well with the policy of circular agriculture as set out by Minister Carola Schouten. Pigs are, in any case, ideally suited to circular agriculture and the circular economy, as they are largely fed food and feed waste from society via feeding troughs. Given that Verba feed troughs have also been made from recycled materials for 40 years – and are therefore circular in nature – this fits in perfectly with this vision.
The accompanying film clearly illustrates the circular collaboration between VERBA and Ekon, showing how the PE sheets arrive at VERBA, how these sheets are processed into feed troughs, and how the PE waste is collected and reprocessed by Ekon into new PE sheets for the VERBA feed troughs. A fine, closed circular cycle.
Ekon, VERBA and VERBA’s customers are therefore helping to protect the environment!
