At Adrie van de Pas' fattening pig farm, the liquid feeding system is going to be overhauled. The long troughs are going out and a Variomix feeder from Verba is coming in. "From one feeding place per pig I will go back to almost one feeding place per ten pigs. Practical experiences with this method of providing supplementary feed are variable, but I have seen at a large fattening pig farm that it works fine. That's why I see it as a challenge to make it a success as well." But above all, Adrie chooses the extra square footage he can use for keeping pigs for meat. "Instead of four times eight pigs, I can now keep two times 19 fattening pigs. Per year, I can deliver an additional 750 fattening pigs within the same farrowing pen space."

Pig Farm:

The innovative Verhees farm in Someren has about 1,000 sows and 9,000 fattening pigs. The latter are kept in plateau barns. In terms of manure processing, they are participating in the pilot Research Mineral Concentrate. At this farm there are VERBA Variomix troughs. The pigs receive small portions daily via the Variomix feeders as often as possible. Growth in 2017 was 860 grams per animal per day at a feed conversion rate of 2.25.
